On This Date: It Snowed In South Texas In Time For Christmas

One of the most surreal weather events I’ve seen in my career was a Christmas snow in an unusual place.

On Dec. 24, 2004, 21 years ago today, snow fell over much of coastal and South Texas leading to what we considered the most bizarre white Christmas in U.S. history.

This freak event remains the all-time snowstorm of record in both Victoria (12.5 inches) and Corpus Christi, Texas (4.4 inches)…
