City of Taft opens warming center as cold weather moves in

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Cold temperatures are settling into the area, and the City of Taft is stepping in to help residents stay warm.

In a Facebook post, the Taft Volunteer Fire Department announced that the Alvarado Center, located at the corner of Davis Road and Allende Street, will be open as a warming center on Wednesday, Dec. 31, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The city also has blankets available for anyone in need, while supplies last. Heaters are currently unavailable. Blankets can be picked up at City Hall during regular business hours…
