CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi Fire Department responded to 26 fire calls during the New Year’s holiday period, according to Chief Tony Perez.
Fire crews handled:
- 2 structure fires
- 2 fence fires
- 11 grass fires
- 11 rubbish and trash fires — 10 inside city limits (ICL) and 1 outside city limits (OCL)
Perez said none of the grass fires grew to a remarkable size, with most limited to small spot fires of less than one acre.
Before the holiday, fire officials urged residents to remain cautious.
