When school and parenthood are mixed together, the stress can get real. Despite having to juggle papers, deadlines, and the responsibility of providing for his family, the hard work never stopped for graduate Alfred Olivarez nor his friend Loretta Garcia.
When they set out to get their bachelor’s degrees with families already made, they knew it wasn’t going to be easy, but they had to try. Day and night they studied, worked harder than they ever had before, and excelled more than they thought they were capable.
What made it even more significant was that they were part of the first class to earn that specific bachelor’s degree from Del Mar College. Alfred and Loretta were two of 13 in the new program to graduate with their bachelor’s degrees, the first time in the history at the college to do so.
