Small businesses and private nonprofit organizations in Texas affected by the severe storms and straight-line winds of May 8, 2025, have until March 2, 2026, to apply for federal disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The deadline applies to those in Brooks, Duval, Jim Wells, Kleberg, Live Oak, Nueces, and San Patricio counties.
The SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program offers low-interest loans to eligible small businesses, agricultural cooperatives, nurseries, and private nonprofits—including faith-based organizations—that suffered financial losses due to the disaster. Agricultural producers such as farmers or ranchers are not eligible unless they operate small aquaculture enterprises.
