Police arrest one, detain four during welfare check in Corpus Christi

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department detained four people and arrested one person after responding to a welfare check at a home on Tuesday morning that led to a nearly hour long standoff.

CCPD Officer Madeline Commons said officers were called around 8 a.m to a residence at the intersection of Swantner Dr. and Indiana Ave. after a neighbor requested a welfare check for a woman.

Officers said they knocked and called out for about 45 minutes but got no response, even though they could hear movement inside, according to Commons…
