Lady Eagles finish CCISD Tournament with two wins

The eighth-ranked Woodsboro Lady Eagles’ bats erupted Saturday as the Lady Eagles closed the CCISD Tournament with a pair of wins, rolling past Corpus Christi Ray 12-1 and blanking Cotulla 8-0.

The Lady Eagles went 4-2 in the three-day tournament.

Kaygen Lewis powered the opener against Ray, going 3-for-3 with a home run and five RBIs as Woodsboro scored four runs in the first, two in the second and added four more in the fourth on the way to the run-rule win. Chayse Wernli went 3-for-3 with four runs scored, while Sidney Castillo finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Castillo earned the win in the circle, allowing one unearned run on three hits with eight strikeouts in five innings…
