PORT ARANSAS, Texas — After nearly 10 years since Hurricane Harvey damaged the original station, the Port Aransas Police Department is entering a new chapter with its move into a new public safety building.
Port Aransas Police Chief James Stokes said the new facility has been in the works for years.
“I think it just marks the end of one era and the beginning of another, and I think the community is really ready for that next chapter — and we are too. We’re excited for it,” Stokes said. “Right after Harvey, we took up residency in City Hall for a little while, then in our civic center. Then the city got us some temporary construction trailers that we moved into, and we’ve been in those since 2018.”…
