Texas energy industry gets business boost amid Iran conflict

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The conflict between the United States and Iran may have a big silver lining for the Texas oil industry, according to a new report.

The findings from the Wall Street Journal show a big boost in business at one of the state’s major ports serving the energy industry: the Port of Corpus Christi. The port had a record first quarter and handled an all-time high tonnage in March, corresponding with the beginnings of military action in Iran, an almost 20% greater than volumes in the month prior.

The WSJ also found that crude oil volumes in March were up more than 2% from a year prior, with more than 2.4 million barrels moving through the waterway every day…
