The Aransas County Navigation District Commissioners recently approved by a 3-2 vote a reimbursement request from the Rockport Police Department for overtime for security for July 4th celebrations along Rockport Beach.
Rockport Chief of Police Nathan Anderson presented the request to the commissioners during its regular meeting on May 4, saying an initial estimate of $10,000 was dropped to $7,590. Costs cover officers stationed on the beach only, and does not include boat patrols, vehicles, and other areas.
Anderson noted the operational plan for the weekend is a “rough draft” and likely won’t be finalized until closer to the Independence Day holiday but said the amount noted on the invoice will not change…
