Warner Robins officer shot in January standoff testifies in trial of GA teacher accused of killing 2-year-old

HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga. — A Warner Robins officer shot during a January standoff took the stand Tuesday in an unrelated case, the trial of a former Gwinnett County teacher accused of killing her 2-year-old child.

Officer Matthew Wojtal responded to a domestic violence call in Warner Robins on Jan. 29, 2026. He was shot five times in what the department called an “ambush.”

During a February news conference, Wojtal said there was still “a little ways” to go with his recovery before he rejoined the force on active duty. He has since returned to “full-time normal duty.”…
