ALPHARETTA, Ga. — North Fulton Community Charities plans to provide more than 1,300 local students with school supplies after a strong response to its annual call for donations.
Around 200 volunteers collected supplies — binders, dividers, composition notebooks, backpacks and more — July 20-22. They then sorted and filled backpacks for students who might need them. The group is expecting strong demand from its clients and will distribute the supplies through July 25.
North Fulton Community Charities started the school supply drive in 1998. It partnered with Alpharetta Presbyterian Church, which helped found the nonprofit organization in 1982. Seven more churches soon joined the effort to collect and distribute school supplies…
