‘A City That Feels Like Home’: Caldwell Shares Updates in State of the City

“We are building a city that feels like home.”

That’s the mission statement recently developed by Woodstock city leaders at their annual retreat, Mayor Michael Caldwell told a packed auditorium at the Woodstock Arts Theater Friday.

Caldwell gave his “State of the City” address last week at an event hosted by IN WDSTK, which the city reported was sold out.

“I am proud to report that our city today remains financially secure, economically robust, artistically vibrant, and the sought-after home of go-getters and dreamers throughout the region,” he said. “The state of our city is optimistic, vibrant and strong.”

The mayor said last year, his administration laid out three priorities: expanding parks and trails to enhance quality of life, recruiting high-paying jobs and businesses and making home ownership more accessible.

In the last two years, Woodstock made its largest-ever investments in public safety and parks, Caldwell said, and last year, the city was one of few local governments in Georgia that did not raise taxes.
