Search continues for teenage girl who went missing at Fort Yargo State Park in Winder

A search has been underway since Monday for a 16-year-old girl who disappeared under mysterious circumstances at Fort Yargo State Park in Winder.

The teen’s mother fears her child may have been abducted, according to the “Find Kaelyn Phillips’ Facebook page that was created to spread the word about her disappearance.

Winder police reported that Kaelyn Phillips was last seen about 1:30 a.m. Monday at the campground at Fort Yargo, a 1,816-acre park that borders the city of Winder.

The girl’s parents, Kayne and Misty Phillips, and their three daughters, parked their RV at the state park on Jan. 22. On Sunday, Misty Phillips, took a plane from Atlanta to London on a work-related trip, according to her post.

Hours later, she reported her husband called to say that Kaelyn was missing and he had called Winder police.

“When my husband woke up on Monday morning he took the dogs out and realized the door to the back area, where the girls bathroom is located, was ajar and items from the bathroom were on the ground outside. My husband and other daughters could not find Kaelyn in her bed,” she wrote.
