A dentist is seeking approval from the county to open her office at the site of the former Mt. Bethel Community Center in east Cobb, the second time in less than a year an office has been proposed for the vacant building.
The church announced at the end of 2022 it was selling a slew of properties in the wake of separating from the United Methodist Church over issues such as LGBTQ marriage, a break-up that cost Mt. Bethel $13.1 million.
One of those properties is the 1.14-acre lot at 4608 Lower Roswell Road that Dr. Marianna Kovitch is asking the county to rezone from residential to low-rise office for her dental practice.
According to her website, Kovitch runs a satellite location out of the Buckhead Dental Group office on Piedmont Road.
The county’s zoning division has recommended a permit be granted Kovitch to run her office out of the building, just as they did in July with the proposal from MRE Properties and Investments.
The permit would allow the property to remain zoned for residential use. Mt. Bethel told the MDJ in Oct. 2022 that the community center stood vacant for years.
