When Courtney Jones was a girl, her mother urged her to wear her hair in a natural style. “It wasn’t an easy decision at the time,” she recalled. “All my peers-the other Black girls-were relaxing their hair, but I finally decided this is me; this is how I want to present myself to the world.”
