Dog Finds Forever Home After 800 Days in Shelter

After spending more than two years in a Georgia shelter, Queenie, a mixed-breed dog known for her gentle nature, has finally been adopted. Her journey to finding a loving family came to a joyful conclusion after 801 days at the Humane Society of Forsyth County, touching the hearts of many who supported her along the way.

Queenie’s story began in 2022 when she was transferred from an animal control facility to the shelter. At that time, she was accompanied by her 10 puppies, who all quickly found homes. However, Queenie, the mother, had to wait much longer for her turn. She soon became the shelter’s longest resident, making her a familiar and beloved face among the staff and volunteers.

Her age and some health challenges, including food and skin allergies, made finding a suitable home difficult. Additionally, Queenie needed to be the only pet in her new home, which further limited her adoption opportunities. Despite these obstacles, those who met her were struck by her warm and affectionate personality.
