Kennesaw Animal Shelter Raising Funds for New Parking Lot

KENNESAW — After losing over 30 parking spaces to a land acquisition deal with the city of Kennesaw, animal shelter Mostly Mutts initiated a fundraising campaign to install a new parking lot and green space.

Located at 3238 Cherokee St., on the corner of Cherokee Street and Ben King Road, Mostly Mutts has been at the their current location since 2016, volunteers said. The nonprofit shelter works with animal control, other local county shelters and rescue partners to save homeless animals from being euthanized.

Through the nonprofit donation platform Georgia Gives, the shelter hopes to raise $250,000 to create new parking spaces on a property located next door at 3248 Cherokee St.

City Council’s purchase of Mostly Mutts’ parking lot is part of a years-long road widening project along Cherokee Street to improve the increased flow of traffic. The city reports project details will include widening the road to three lanes, intersection improvements and adding curb, gutter and sidewalks along the street.
