The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office gave gifts to hundreds of local children and senior citizens this month through its annual Christmas Joy program.
Christmas Joy includes “Shop with a Cop” for Cherokee County children and a partnership with Cherokee County Senior Services to give care packages to local seniors.
This year, deputies shopped with 240 children during “Shop with a Cop” Dec. 9-11 at the Bells Ferry Road Walmart, CSO spokesperson Patty Pan said.
The program also provided gifts for 100 seniors. Packages delivered by deputies and volunteers included towels, blankets and socks.
The Christmas Joy program is funded via donations made to the Cherokee Sheriff’s Foundation throughout the year.
