At approximately noon on Tuesday, Feb. 4, a group of University of Georgia students and members of the Athens Party for Socialism and Liberation gathered at Tate Plaza to call for the immediate termination of a UGA College of Engineering staff member, who the group named as an alleged neo-Nazi.
This is the second demonstration that has taken place in response to concerns regarding the staff member’s potential involvement in neo-Nazi organizations. On Wednesday, Jan. 15, the first demonstration was held at Tate Plaza and included a march to the Arch. This demonstration was attended by the Young Democratic Socialists of America, United Campus Workers of Georgia and other UGA students and community members.
In October 2024, a neo-Nazi festival event was held on the property of the staff member and his wife in Oglethorpe County. UGA’s Equal Opportunity Office conducted an investigation after receiving complaints regarding the event.
