Man Accused of Hit and Run While Fleeing Police in Stolen Mercedes

Jeremiah Michael Mathurin, 24, of Auburn, is accused of hit and run while fleeing from police in a stolen 2020 white Mercedes on Jan. 30 at 10:38 p.m. at the intersection of Bentley and Terrell Mill roads in Marietta, according to an arrest warrant from the Cobb County Police Department.

Mathurin was operating the stolen Mercedes with a temporary dealer tag registered to a 2025 GMC Canyon truck on Bentley Road heading south toward Terrell Mill Road. He fled, when police activated their emergency lights and sirens, by swerving around another motorist and continuing south on Bentley Road at approximately 70-80 mph in a 35 mph zone, according to the warrant.

Mathurin failed to yield to a red traffic light at the intersection of Bentley and Terrell Mill roads and struck a vehicle traveling west on Terrell Mill. He then fled on foot. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and had to be towed from the scene. A Glock 19 was found in the Mercedes and Mathurin was the sole occupant of that vehicle, according to the warrant…
