Abandoned dog in Gwinnett County escaped animal control officer with catch pole still attached

An abandoned St. Bernard has friends and neighbors in Stone Mountain, Georgia very concerned and notably upset about his safety. A woman had been feeding the stray dog for weeks trying her best to earn his trust. She thought calling Gwinnett County Animal Control to capture the dog would benefit the dog and assure his safety.

Animal Control officers arrived, were able to secure in a crate, but the moment they placed the catch pole around his neck, the dog panicked, wiggled out of the officer’s grip and ran away; the catch pole dangerously still attached. The woman who had been feeding the dog and trying to gain his trust is utterly heartbroken.

According to local social media posts, volunteers have been trying to capture the dog. One person was able to take a quick photo, but moments later the dog fled from the area…
