The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for 37 counties in Georgia including Walton, Gwinnett, and the surrounding counties of Barrow, Newton and Rockdale counties in the local area. This includes the cities of Covington, Conyers, Monroe and Winder. It subsequently has issued the following Special Weather Statement as the storm approaches.
