Ball Ground has taken the first step toward creating a historic district within the city.
At its June meeting, the Ball Ground City Council unanimously approved an ordinance establishing a five-member Historic Preservation Commission. The commission’s first task will be to develop an inventory of all historic sites and structures within Ball Ground, City Manager Eric Wilmarth told the Tribune.
“Once they complete that inventory,” Wilmarth said, “they have to present it to the mayor and City Council and say, ‘Based on where we see these historic structures and properties, we would recommend that the historic district be this,’ and it would actually be a map that identifies the district.”…
