Cherokee County Water and Sewer Authority reports 85,671 gallon spill

The Cherokee County Water and Sewerage Authority reported an estimated 85,671 gallon major spill occurred June 30.

The spill, caused by a leak in the force main, occurred at the Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation pump station at Univeter Road and discharged into Blankets Creek at Ash Street.

The crew repaired the 16-inch force main with a solid sleeve and added three new flange packs. To further secure the pipe, a steel threaded rod was added on each side…
