Korean War hero to be laid to rest in Canton after 75 years

After more than seven decades missing in action, U.S. Army Cpl. Anthony Konze, who was previously listed as an unknown Korean War casualty, has officially been identified.

He will be laid to rest with full military honors July 18 at the Georgia National Cemetery, with services directed by Darby Funeral Home in Canton.

Born on March 1, 1930, in Brookyln, N.Y., Konze was the eldest of eight children and enlisted in the U.S. Army on Oct. 5, 1949. He served with Company C, First Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, Second Infantry Division during the Korean War…
