Creative Calling: Mill Creek grad goes from aspiring doctor to valedictorian at Savannah College of Art and Design

During her days at Mill Creek High School, Fallon Perlino was certain of her next steps — she planned to attend Emory University and pursue a career in medicine.

But one visit to the Atlanta campus of the Savannah College of Art and Design threw a happy wrench into the Buford resident’s plans.

“I thought I was going to pursue medicine because I had family in the medical profession,” she said. “My grandfather, who passed when I was young, was a highly celebrated doctor of infectious diseases and I was impressed with his drive and his dedication to one thing. I didn’t take art classes in high school; I was creative but I didn’t see that as something I could really pursue…
