In a recent announcement, Gwinnett County has addressed the interruption of senior transportation services that has affected the county’s elder residents. Chairwoman Hendrickson highlighted the issue following the ‘ contractor changes that led to the primary transportation provider halting services. According to Gwinnett County’s statement, the disruption is only temporary as DHS is in the process of finding new service providers.
The county’s response to this service disruption has been prompt, with Health and Human Services teams going to lengths in ensuring that crucial medical trips are prioritized. “Our Health and Human Services team is actively prioritizing essential medical trips and working one-on-one with clients to coordinate alternate options,” as stated in the county’s press release. Alternative transportation options are being coordinated to ensure minimum disturbance to seniors’ schedules.
While the primary contractor is no more in service, other vendors who work with the DHS are continuing their operations in an effort to fill the gap. Gwinnett County assures that these vendors remain active and are part of the solution to meet the community’s ongoing needs…
