Board renews superintendent’s contract
This school year, Pickens County students in kindergarten through 8th grades will not be allowed to use cell phones at school if the Board of Education gives final approval of a proposed policy at their August meeting. The move comes after the state mandated schools implement the ban by summer of next year.
HB 340, the Distraction Free Education Act, was signed into law by Gov. Brian Kemp in May. School districts must adopt a policy by January 2026 and implement it by July 1, 2026.
