Since Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day was introduced in Gwinnett County in 2018, the event has collected 1.16 million pounds of household hazardous waste for proper disposal. On Saturday, July 26 at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds in Lawrenceville, two government departments will team up to once again host a collection day to help residents rid their homes of household hazardous waste.
Co-hosted by Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful and the Department of Water Resources, the collection day will take place from 8 a.m. until noon. The event is held twice a year — once in winter and once in summer — and a host of volunteers is needed to make the operation run smoothly. Duties will include directing traffic, removing materials from vehicles, breaking down boxes and more.
