If anyone needed a visual representation of the need for school supplies in Gwinnett County, they got one in Lawrenceville this weekend.
The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office held its 5th annual Back To School backpack giveaway at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds on Saturday. About 7,200 backpacks were available to hand out during the event, which also included a car show, free haircuts, live entertainment and vendor booths. The backpacks ended up being handed out at a steady, but brisk pace.
At one point, the line for supplies to fill the backpacks stretched nearly from the fairgrounds’ exhibit hall, which is by the entrance from Davis Road, across the fairgrounds lawn before turning near the gate by the Sugarloaf entrance gate and heading back to the exhibit hall…
