Faith-based health care clinic seeks $450,000 from Gwinnett County

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Gwinnett County leaders on Wednesday heard heated debate over a decision to give nearly half a million dollars in taxpayer money to a faith-based healthcare group.

Reproductive rights advocates pleaded with county commissioners to not provide the money to the Georgia Wellness Group, a recently rebranded entity that was once under the Obria name.

Obria is a national health nonprofit that, according to its website, helps patients focus on their “physical, mental, spiritual and social needs.” The group is what’s known as a crisis pregnancy center and operates centers in six states, including Georgia…
