Cherokee County approves 44-home neighborhood near Acworth

Forty-four homes are coming to southwest Cherokee County.

On Aug. 5, the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a request from Grand Communities, LLC to rezone about 33.88 acres from R-40 (single-family residential) to R-20 conservation to build a 44-home “conservation neighborhood” at 6380 and 6390 Woodstock Road in southwest Cherokee.

The applicant initially requested to build 46 homes. The rezoning request to build these homes was postponed July 1, and then again July 15, to allow for more discussion and planning regarding the applicant’s requested concurrent variances. These included allowing house lots to encroach upon primary conservation areas, to allow the greenspace to be disturbed and replanted and to allow the green space access strip to be less than 50 feet…
