Man to serve 20 years in prison for stabbing girlfriend in Ball Ground

A man convicted of stabbing his girlfriend will serve 20 years in prison, the Cherokee County District Attorney’s Office announced.

After a non-negotiated plea hearing on Aug. 7, Chief Superior Court Judge David Cannon Jr. sentenced Juan Jose Alfaro-Gonzalez, 30, to 50 years, with the first 20 years to be served in prison, for the brutal stabbing of his intimate partner at a Ball Ground home.

Alfaro-Gonzalez entered a guilty plea to the following charges: criminal attempt to commit murder, family violence aggravated assault, family violence aggravated battery (three counts), aggravated assault, and cruelty to children in the third degree…
