Cherokee County to Upgrade SR 92 & Trickum Rd Intersection, Enhancing Traffic Flow and Pedestrian Safety

The residents of Cherokee County can expect to navigate through a revamped intersection at SR 92 and Trickum Rd in the near future. The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners have given the green light to Backbone Infrastructure, LLC, to spearhead the long-awaited improvements. According to a recent Cherokee County announcement, the project was sanctioned at the board’s Tuesday meeting, signaling the onset of a year-long construction phase.

Delving into the history, it’s no surprise to see this project materialize. Efforts to upgrade this intersection have been on the county’s docket since 2016, and now funding alignments have been secured largely by federal means with an 80% contribution. Not to be left out, the City of Woodstock is throwing in 10% of the non-federal 20% match through SPLOST dollars, further cementing the financial foundation for these much-needed enhancements.

The scope of the project is comprehensive, set to uniquely reform the intersections’ dynamics. One of the headline features includes the addition of dual left turn lanes for every approach to the Trickum Rd intersection at SR 92.
