Stolen court records resurface after 22 years

“This was a big, big deal when we found out it was missing,” clerk of court said of missing tax lien book

Pickens County Clerk of Court Jennifer Jordan said it’s hard to shock her after so many years working in the court system, but when someone brought in a lien book that was stolen from the deed room over 20 years ago, shocked was an understatement.

“I don’t think I could speak for five minutes when it came in the door,” Jordan said as she thumbed through the burgundy hardcover book of federal tax liens that date from 1999 through 2003. “This was a big, big deal when we found out it was missing. So, to see it brought back, and I’m still in this office, is just crazy. It was a major shock.”…
