Without adopting the rollback rate, this is considered a tax increase
The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners is considering keeping the general fund millage rate the same as last year, at 6.950 mills, and has been holding public hearings for residents to provide comments. This proposed millage rate is considered a tax increase since, according to state law, any proposed millage rate above the rollback rate is considered a tax increase. Gwinnett County’s rollback rate is 6.607 mills.
However, if the millage rate is held steady at 6.95 mills, in most instances property owners who benefit from the Value Offset Exemption will not see an increase in the county government portion of their property taxes. Most of the City of Loganville residents who live in the Gwinnett County side of the city will not see an increase in their city taxes.
