Gwinnett schools not meeting district’s own reading goals

Gwinnett County Public Schools set high goals for reading proficiency in its Blueprint for the Future plan, but district officials admitted on Thursday that they have failed to live up to their expectations in areas such as equity and excellence since the plan was adopted.

Data shown to school board members on Thursday focused on how students performed on milestones and high school end-of-course tests during the 2024-2025 school year. Part of the lengthy discussion, however, zeroed in on whether Gwinnett students are reading at their grade level.
