Cherokee denies request to build 188 homes in Pearidge community

Cherokee County leaders have rejected a developer’s application to build 188 homes in the historic Pearidge community after nearby residents voiced opposition to the proposal.

On Aug. 19, the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners voted 3-1 to deny a request from Pearidge Land Investments, LLC, to rezone over 60 acres between Pearidge Road and Reservoir Drive near Canton from R-40 (single-family residential) to RD-3 (single-family residential).
