ATLANTA, Ga. — A crash on Interstate 85 North caused heavy traffic delays Friday afternoon after four lanes were blocked near the Jimmy Carter Boulevard exit in Gwinnett County.
The incident shut down the northbound side of the interstate for nearly an hour before lanes were reopened, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.
Pickup Truck Blamed for Multi-Vehicle Crash
Investigators with the Georgia State Patrol said the wreck began when a Chevy pickup truck was traveling too fast for conditions and following too closely in congested traffic. The truck struck multiple vehicles, sparking the chain-reaction crash.
Minor Injuries Reported
Troopers confirmed that minor injuries were sustained in the collision, though no fatalities were reported. Emergency crews worked quickly to clear the scene and restore traffic flow.
Authorities said charges against the driver of the pickup truck are pending.
Traffic Backlog Cleared
