Gwinnett County Nonprofit Burglarized, Over $10K in Damages at Buford Thrift Store

A faith-based nonprofit in Gwinnett County, known for its philanthropic work, recently fell victim to burglary, with their thrift store being targeted by an unidentified suspect. The North Gwinnett Co-Op, which runs the Second Blessings Thrift Store in Buford, had its premises breached around 6:30 a.m. on a Tuesday, with the intruder apparently smashing through a window to gain entry, however, details about the stolen goods remain unclear and the financial damage surpassed $10,000, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.

Sharing their dismay over the incident on social media, the nonprofit expressed their sentiments saying, “You didn’t steal from us – you stole from people in need. You stole resources used to serve our community,” indicating that the stolen goods were not just properties but lifelines for those less fortunate and in support of a statement obtained by WSBTV, their Executive Director Kim Phillips emphasized the impact of this loss stating, “The money that he took is what we use to help people with their medication, with utilities, to buy food so that our pantry is stocked,” pointing out to how vital these resources are for the community they help.

This burglary has caused the store to temporarily close on Tuesday, but it has since resumed operations with the support of the community, as mentioned by Phillips in her appreciation of the public’s response, and those willing to extend their help can contribute through donations to the North Gwinnett Co-Op or its Food Pantry…
