Cherokee County therapy dog, only one from Georgia, up for national award for heroism

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A Cherokee County poodle who turns “trauma into courage, one paw at a time” could take home a national award.

Parker is in the semifinals for the American Humane Society’s 15th annual Hero Dog Awards.

Parker, a 2-year-old therapy dog with the county district attorney’s office, comforts victims and witnesses to felony crimes.

He’s one of five semifinalists in the category of Emerging Hero and Shelter Dog, and the only Georgia dog among 25 semifinalists across five categories…
