Georgia students join national walkout in protest of gun violence

ATLANTA, Ga. – Students across metro Atlanta walked out of class on Friday as part of a statewide and national movement calling for action on gun violence.

The walkouts come in response to last week’s shooting at a Catholic school in Minnesota, where two students were killed and more than a dozen others were injured.

During lunch on Thursday, administrators learned that a student may be in possession of a gun, according to a letter sent home to families.

They also came a day after the first anniversary of the Apalachee High School shooting that killed four people in Georgia and a day after a gun was found at the Academy of Richmond County in Augusta…
