It was a very rainy Farmer’s Market

It was hard to imagine that there would be a farmers market after the massive storms early Saturday morning. At 5 a.m. Saturday morning I was imagining the farmers loading up their trucks in the deluge of rain.

At 7 a.m. the farmer’s cars and trucks were lined up at the Jasper Farmers’ Market, waiting to be unloaded. By 8 a.m. the storms had passed and the market was going strong. Rain or shine, you have to sell the vegetables and baked goods as they don’t keep till next week.

We were able to buy

  • squash
  • peppers
  • potatoes
  • okra
  • lettuce
  • cherry tomatoes
  • green tomatoes
  • paste and slicing tomatoes
  • butternut squash and acorn too
  • green beans
  • zucchini
  • cucumbers
  • figs
  • watermelons
  • exotic mushrooms
  • collards
  • eggs
  • heritage pork
  • local beef
  • chicken

Though the storms kept vendors and customers away there were still 40 vendors including 5 farmers…
