Both patrons and staff of the IHOP were evacuated as a safety precaution, and the surrounding area was temporarily cordoned off while the investigation took place.
Houze Road saw a closure between Wren Drive and the Kroger parking lot access as authorities looked into the situation. However, at 6:40 a.m., the Roswell Police dispatched welcome news. “We are glad to share that after thorough evaluation, the contents of the car are safe and were not a threat,” officers said in a statement obtained by Atlanta News First, bringing an end to the morning’s tensions.
Despite the early alarm, the incident turned out to be a false alarm, and authorities lifted the evacuation orders shortly thereafter.
