Traffic Alert: I85 S from 316 to JCB to be shut down and traffic paced for a period Sunday AM

GWINNETT COUNTY – Oct. 17, 2025 – Gwinnett County Police Department is giving an advanced warning to motorists of a planned shut down of parts of I-85 south and traffic pacing for 45 minutes on Sunday morning, Oct., 19, 2025. The shutdown will be from SR 316 to Jimmy Carter Blvd from 7:30 – 8:15 a.m.

“The Accident Investigation Unit plans to pace traffic on I-85 South from 316 to south of JCB on Sunday between 0730-0815 to map a double fatality scene from 10/5/25. We will be using several drones, and we cannot have any traffic while we do it. Ramps onto I-85 South from 316, Pleasant Hill, Steve Reynolds, Beaver Ruin, Indian Trail, and JCB will be affected. Traffic will not be able to enter I-85 from about 0730-0815. Further, traffic will be slowed to about 20 mph from 316 to JCB at the same time. There is a chance for a brief closure at JCB to allow AIU to finish if needed. HERO will be assisting. AIU should be completely done by 0815 if everything goes as planned.
