Unity Christian runners qualify for state meet

Runners from Unity Christian competed at the Region 1-Division II cross country meet Saturday at Horizon Christian Academy in Cumming. Ten Lions runners qualified for the GAPPS state meet as individuals, held Oct. 25 at One Church in Fayetteville, with an 11th qualified as part of the boys team.

In the boys race, senior Zion Timmins led the way with a 14th-place time of 20:20.27. He was closely followed by sophomore teammate Jude Osben, who finished 16th with a 20:23.11 time.

Timmins and Osben, as well as Taylon Waldon, Micah Timmins, Micah Wilson and Peter Whitehead each qualified for state by finishing below the state-qualifying time of 25 minutes. The Lions finished third as a team with 88 points, with freshman Noah Timmins also qualifying for state as the team’s seventh runner…
