Construction on the roundabout at the entrance to Pickens High School is underway after over a decade of discussion and planning. The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) project is expected to last 12 months.
School officials are preparing for traffic issues while the project is underway. They have plans to stay in close contact with GDOT during the process and keep the public informed about changes to traffic patterns at the Dragon Drive/Highway 53 intersection.
“We have a liaison, Director of Maintenance and Operations Chris Wallace, who will be meeting periodically with the DOT to be sure we are coordinating with them during construction,” said Pickens Superintendent Dr. Travis Thomas. “We will stay ahead of what is happening and let our parents and young drivers know. Safety is our top priority.”…
