As 11Alive reports, attorneys say law enforcement was searching for Nikki Sledge, a 43-year-old white woman from Kentucky, but instead arrested Nickie Sledge, a 49-year-old Black woman living in Canton, Georgia. On December 21, 2024, Nickie Sledge was taken into custody and charged with two counts of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of disabled or elderly individuals.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office case report identifies the victim as the grandfather of Nikki Sledge’s husband.
