The Canton City Council is scheduled to make a decision Dec. 4 on an applicant’s request to turn a vacant building on Cherokee Street near downtown Canton into a new restaurant.
On Nov. 6, the Canton City Council held a public hearing to discuss a request from Fiorella Soto to rezone 0.692 acres at 100 Cherokee St. from R-20 single-family residential to central business district with concurrent variances to operate the restaurant. If approved, it is expected to be a Latin American restaurant.
Soto told the council the plan is to design the restaurant to mostly serve customers to “come and pick up the food and take it home,” with “rarely any dining in.”…
